George Zimmerman Has Received Nearly $500,000 In Online Donations

George Zimmerman just might be the luckiest killer in America. He nearly got off for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, gets to spend the next few months out of prison while he awaits a trial date, and has received more than $200,000 in donations over the last two weeks. According to his lawyer, Mike O'Mara, who created a new website for Zimmerman, nearly $50,000 of the funds raised will cover his living expenses, while the remaining $150,000 was turned over to an independent administrator. This new number marks the second time that the 28-year-old has received loads of money from supporters. His now defunct website, brought in roughly the same amount in donations which he used to post $150,000 bond. In total the former neighborhood watch volunteer has raised nearly $500,000. O'Mara entered a "not guilty" plea on behalf of his client earlier this week, and waved Zimmerman's right to a speedy trial. He is due back in court August 8.

Pregnant Woman In Georgia Kicked In The Stomach By Police Officer

A police officer in Georgia has become the subject of an investigation for kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach. Jerad Wheeler, an officer in DeKalb County, responded to a call over a custody dispute involving the brother of the alleged victim, Raven Dozier. According to Dozier she was actually trying to calm her brother down when cops were called to the scene and shot him with a stun gun. When she questioned their actions, Dozier was kicked in the stomach by Wheeler. "I was upset because I couldn't believe an officer would kick me, with my child in my stomach," she said. Officer Wheeler downplayed the incident, writing it off as a “front push kick to the abdomen, as he was taught to do at the academy.” He also claims to have not known that Dozier was pregnant, and stated in the police report that she “approached him aggressively.” Not surprisingly, Wheeler has had two complaints filed against him in the last two months, and while the investigation is pending, the police initially closed out the case concluding that Wheeler responded correctly. Dozier is the latest pregnant woman to allege police brutality. As we reported, a pregnant woman in Florida was tasered by police following an altercation at her house, which resulted in her arrest. The state of Georgia has also gotten some negative publicity behind a bar owner posting racist remarks about President Obama.

Jimi Hendrix Biopic With Andre 3000 Has Been Halted By Guitarist's Family

Talk about a tease. Amid the fervor that musician-actor Andre “Andre 3000” Benjamin of Outkast fame was cast to play the lead in the proposed Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side, the family-0wned company Hendrix Experience who represents the late guitar virtuoso's business interests says then never granted the filmmakers permission to proceed with production, reports The Wall Street Journal. As reported yesterday by Blabbermouth, the family's full statement was clear in their stance that not being involved with the film from Hollywood writer John Ridley may halt its production. "Various media outlets have recently published accounts that indicate a feature-length Jimi Hendrix biographical film is nearing production. Experience Hendrix, LLC, the family-owned company entrusted with safeguarding the legacy of Jimi Hendrix and administrator of the Jimi Hendrix music and publishing catalog has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation.” Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix, Jimi's sister, shared in her company's statement that the estate is not opposed to such a biopic taking place but that they must have direct involvement with the concept from the onset. Hopefully Ridley and his producers can come to an agreement with the Hendrix family to make this film happen. Until then, keep your role – ahem – heart, Three Stacks!

Meek Mill Signs To Roc Nation Management

I guess we know who is having the best week ever. Meek Mill has joined his MMG partner, Wale, by signing to Roc Nation's Management team. He hinted to his affiliation with Jay-Z on his new mixtape, Dreamchasers 2, but he confirmed this in an interview with Hov's site,Life + Times. "Yeah, that's the new deal I put together. Me coming up in this rap game, I was always an underground artist coming up by myself and making all of the moves by myself," he told the site. "And my manager – he's just like me, we've been coming up in the streets by ourselves. So we just decided to partner up with Roc Nation and take things to another level." Meek joins frequent collaborator, Jahlil Beats and his alleged new flame Rihanna on Roc Nation's management team. Meek also celebrated his 25th birthday this week.

Jay-Z Endorses Bacardi's New Ultra-Luxury Cognac Called D'ussé

Jay-Z is adding Cognac to his endorsement portfolio. The Life Files reports that Hova was on hand at a private event in NYC last night to introduce D'ussé, a new VSOP Cognac being launched by Bacardi. D'ussé (pronounced ‘dew-say') is being presented and situated as a competitor to Hennessy. Bacardi's new Cognac doesn't launch until next month and will be available stateside in September. D'ussé Cognac will cost you $45 for a 750mL bottle. Bacardi is targeting a younger audience to compete with brands like Rémy Martin and Courvoisier, making picking up the super influential Jay-Z as a co-signer a no brainer. In the past the rapper/mogul has endorsed Reebok and HP computers, and currently pushes Armand de Brignac aka Ace of Spade champagne. So why not have another spirit on the top shelf?
