RZA To Direct More Films, Including Genghis Khan Biopic

With his directorial debut, The Man With the Iron Fist invading theaters this Friday (Nov. 2), RZA is already looking towards his next projects.

The Wu-master is set to direct two forthcoming flicks, one of which will be a biopic on ruler, Genghis Khan.

RZA signed on to helm the film on the historical Chinese military figure, based on the screenplay written by John Milius, whose previous work includes Apocalypse Now, Conan the Barbarian, and The Hunt for Red October. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the flick has been in the works for several years.

Milius was originally in talks to direct the film, while one adaptation was to star Oscar nominee, Mickey Rourke.

Told from the viewpoint of Khan's son and grandson, the film will be shot in China and is set to go into production next year.

The second project, which will be completed before the Khan film, is No Man's Land. Produced by Bill Mechanic and his Pandemonium productions company, alongside Reginald Hudlin whose credits include Quentin Tarantino's DjangoUnchained, the film—taking place in a single night— is based on a man who steals a valuable diamond from a powerful criminal. As the story unfolds, the man discovers that the piece is more valuable than he originally thought, taking him on a fight for his life so that he can cash in on the diamond.
