Now that Gabby Douglas is an Olympic gold-medalist two times over, she can help her mother settle her financial debt.
According to TMZ, Natalie Hawkins filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy earlier in the year, stating that of her $116,707.10 in assets, she had $79,754.14 in unpaid bills.
Among her creditors include a $4,350.23 student loan, a $1,534 credit card bill, a Sprint phone bill totaling $158.78, a $413 T-Mobile phone bill, and a $408 orthodontist bill, acquired when Douglas moved to Ohio for training.
Hawkins agreed to a $408 a month payment plan, given to a third-party who distributed the funds to her creditors.
Now that her daughter has won Olympic gold, and shot to international stardom, she won't have to worry about money anymore. Douglas is expected to rake in as much as $10 million this years in endorsement deals, and has already landed the cover of Kellogg's Corn Flakes.
The 16-year-old became the first Black woman to earn a gold medal in the solo competition earlier in the week, just after she and her team made it to first place as a group.
Douglas has been congratulated by everyone from President Obama, to Beyoncé.
