French Presidential Candidate Uses The Throne's "N*ggas in Paris" for Campaign Ad

If there was any doubt as to how popular The Throne's song "N*ggas In Paris" has become you need to look no further than France's presidential election.

Candidate Fran├žois Hollande is using the song in an ad for his campaign, cuss words and all.

In the ad, French voters of various races hold up their electoral cards, a possible rebuke to Sarkozy's past racial insensivity. Hollande is seen campaigning in the diverse suburbs and towns north of Paris, including one used to create the best bilingual pun perhaps ever employed in a political ad. You know that town of roughly 35,000 people about an hour north of Paris?

Lil Boosie's Lyrics To Be Used Against Him In Court

A judge in the Lil Boosie murder case has ruled to allow some of the rapper's lyrics as evidence in his murder trial. Judge Mike Erwin granted the motion to have three of the Louisiana native's lyrics submitted to show intent in the prosecution's case against him. The ruling was reached following a four-hour pre-trial hearing Tuesday (April 24). Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, is accused of hiring a hitman to murder Terry Boyd back in 2009. The shooter, Michael "Marlo Mike" Louding is also wanted in connection with six other murders in the area. Interrogative detective Alvin Howard, of the Baton Rouge Police Department, testified that lines like "187," "murk" and "cake," found in Boosie's music reference the killing. Howard also said that Louding admitted to being paid $2800 to commit the murder, yet the defense argued that the detective never verified where the funds actually came from. Since his incarceration, Boosie—who was rumored to have died behind bars— has continued to release new music, and penned a letter to fans thanking them for their support. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

"Justice for Trayvon Martin" Rally To Mark Two-Month Anniversary Of Teen's Death

The parents of Trayvon Martin, will make the two month anniversary of their son's death with a massive rally to be held in Los Angeles Thursday (April 26). Coordinated by the NAACP, the National Action Network, Empowerment Movement, and the Rainbow Push Coalition, the Justice for Trayvon Martin Foundation Los Angeles Rally will be held at the West Angeles Church North Campus, Thursday (April 26). A mixture civil rights figures, celebrities, and citizens will all come together to show their support for the Martin family. Special guests include NAACP president Benjamin Jealous, Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Ervin "Magic" Johnson, Chaka Khan, David Banner, Mary Mary, and Big Boy. The purpose of the event is to advocate for victims of senseless crimes and their families, as well as educating young people on conflict resolution techniques, and increase public awareness of racial profiling. The Florida teen was killed by George Zimmerman on Feb. 26, while on his way back from a corner store. Zimmerman has claimed self-defense under the rules of Florida's controversial "stand your ground" law, which has since been brought up for review, in wake of Martin's death.

President Obama Covers Rolling Stone, Not "Worried" About Singing In Public

As President Barack Obama cranks up his re-election bid, and fends off criticism from Republicans, the POTUS has been on a three-state college tour in a reported step to pander the youth vote. After wooing audiences last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and showing off his smooth vocals, the president just landed the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine, looking as dashing as ever. The cover story for the famed publication marks the fourth time he's been interviewed by Rolling Stone. Although the interview ran over an hour, Obama stuck to stern campaign talk and focused on pertinent matters mostly. However, he did loosen up to discuss his, rendition of Al Green's hit "Let's Stay Together," saying that he was confident he could pull off the performance—which has since gone viral. "It's about 10:30 at night, and we go up to the Apollo. I wanted to hear Al Green," shared Obama. "The guys who were working the soundboard in the back, a couple of real good guys, they say, 'Oh, man, you missed the Reverend, but he was terrific, he was in rare form.' So I was frustrated by that. "Since I was on my fifth event and have been yakking away for several hours on all kinds of policy stuff, I just kind of broke into a rendition of 'Let's Stay Together.' And they're like, 'Oh, so the president, you can sing, man. You should do that onstage.'" Although senior advisor Valerie Jarrett was against the move, Obama coolly handled himself, as he typically does. "I can sing," he said. "I wasn't worried about being able to hit those notes." In an inevitable showdown against Willard "Mitt" Romney this fall, the incumbent should easily administer the fade in winning a second term. So get prepared to see a whole lot of Obama in the coming months, ahead of November's big day.

TLC Planning Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes Hologram Tour

Tupac's hologram is inspiring resurrections from other dead musicians. TLC is reportedly next in line to bring their group member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes back from the grave, for their forthcoming 20th anniversary tour. A rep for Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas announced the tour news to TMZ Wednesday (April 25), and according to the site, Left Eye will "pull a Tupac." Her music will be incorporated into the show, while her image will be projected onto a big screen. As of now TLC has booked five venues for the tour, and are in the midst of locking in more dates. If they are to follow Dr. Dre's lead in making Tupac appear at Coachella, TLC may want to travel down a more frugal road to bring their deceased group member back on stage. The Good Doctor shelled out $10 million for the imagery, plus made a hefty donation to the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, as a thank you to his mother for her approval. In commemoration the 10-year anniversary of Left Eye's passing, T-Boz and Chilli reflected on the day she died. "She died a day before my birthday," she told Essence. "I remember everything. I was with security in my Porsche and I said to them, 'I feel like I'm going to get in a wreck and I want to go home.' The driver said: 'Well, that's on the other side of town.' I didn't care; I wanted to go home. I just felt something was going to happen to me, but it wasn't me — it was Lisa. I was sitting in a rocking chair in my daughter's room after putting her down when I got a call from Chilli. She was screaming. I had just gotten out the hospital from fighting sickle cell so I had to be careful about getting upset. Everybody was trying to keep me calm." Lopes died in a car accident during a trip to South America, which she filmed for a VH1 documentary.

Papoose Speaks Out On George Zimmerman Posting Bail "This Dude Is An Animal"

George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who shot and killed 17-year old Trayvon Martin is a free man today after posting 10% of his $150,000 bail on Sunday. He will remain free until his second degree murder trial begins in 2013. The decision by a Florida judge to allow Zimmerman the opportunity for freedom has angered many Americans, including thousands in the hip-hop community. One man who is speaking out against the decision is Papoose, who made a tribute song dedicated to Trayvon several weeks ago. “That’s some savage sh*t,” Papoose told XXL in a new interview. “The man could be free and Trayon is in his grave till eternity. Everybody celebrated when they arrested dude, but I think it was premature. This dude is an animal. The whole thing is bullsh*t.” Like Papoose, several other rappers have made tribute songs dedicated to Trayvon. The unity shown by his peers is something Pap is proud of. “All of us being successful…anybody who has a voice, it’s our duty for us to provide a voice for those who don’t have a platform,” Papoose said. “I felt like it’s my duty. I felt like I’d be playing myself if I didn’t say something. I commend everybody.”

'Think Like A Man': How It Knocked 'Hunger Games' Off Its Throne

The success of "Think Like a Man" shouldn't surprise anyone. For starters, it's based on a best-selling self-help book by Steve Harvey, and many box-office experts had predicted that it would finally be the movie to knock "The Hunger Games" out of its #1 spot. But it was unclear just how big "Think Like a Man" would be. The film grossed $33 million over the weekend and according to Box Office Mojo's weekend wrap-up, "the movie had an 'A' CinemaScore, which went up to an 'A+' among men and those under the age of 25." As Vulture put it, "It's hard to overstate the enormity of the 'TLAM' victory this past weekend." $33 million may not sound like a lot when compared to the opening weeks of "The Hunger Games" and its box-office tear, but there are two things to consider when looking at that number: competition and screens. "Think Like a Man" had two worthy opponents to defeat on its way to box-office glory. First, there was the reigning champion, "The Hunger Games." Even in its fifth week, the YA adaptation still showed signs of life, crossing the $350 million mark this weekend. Then, there was "The Lucky One,' which boasted the Nicholas Sparks brand name and an adult role from teen heartthrob Zac Efron. On paper, these two could have proved too much for the rom-com, especially when you consider the second factor. The large haul for "Think Like a Man" is so much more impressive when you compare the number of screens each film played on. "The Hunger Games," even in its fifth weekend, was still playing on 3,752 screens, almost twice as many as "Think Like a Man," and yet the latter did more than two times the business. Just as telling, "The Lucky One" debuted on 1,000 more screens than "Think Like a Man," yet made more than $10 million less.

Bow Wow Calls Trayvon Martin Shooting "Disturbing," Says Race Is Not The Issue

Rapper Bow Wow is offering a different perspective on the murder of Trayvon Martin. Like many who have commented on the shooting, the 25-year-old was struck by the story, but not just because of the racial aspect. "It's definitely a tragic situation for any kid, not just because he's black," Bow tells Hip-Hop Wired. "You have kid's dying every day, and especially buy a gun. From situations like this [I] hope that we can learn from it, and that we can turn a situation like this into a positive, and just bring awareness." More than anything the Cash Money rapper, who is also father to a one-year-old daughter, wants Martin's parents to make it through. "I hope that his family will be okay, I hope they can overcome this situation. I see a lot of celebrities, ball players...everybody trying to put their bid in and help out, and I just want to send my condolences and put my blessings on it. "Like I said, it's a terrible situation to lose another young man. We don't know what he could have been. I saw pictures of him with his football uniform on, he could've been the next Reggie Bush. He could've been the next whoever, so to have a kid— any kid's—life cut short, and now I have a kid, it's definitely disturbing. Especially [since] we don't know all of the details of how it went down. I just want to send my condolences out to his family and I hope that they overcome this situation." Bow is the latest of many public figures who have given their opinion on the tragic shooting. Both the president and first lady have spoken on the tragedy, while many in the hip-hop community, have been very vocal about the incident. Harlem MC, A$AP Rocky, made mention to Martin during his set at Coachella over the weekend, while Wyclef Jean reenacts the shooting in the video for the song, "Justice." Martin's accused killer, George Zimmerman was release from jail early Monday morning (April 23), after posting bond.

In an interview with ESPN‘s Rick Reilly, Tyson revealed that he got a “jail official” pregnant while serving 6 years in prison in Indiana, beginning in 1992.

In the latest “rapper gets sued for unauthorized used of sample” news, 50 Cent is in the hot-seat. In a move very reminiscent of Robin Hood, 50 Cent is being sued for allegedly stealing a sample for use in song that he, in turn, released for free. In the New York lawsuit, Robert Poindexter, of the band The Persuaders, claims that , in 2009, 50 used a sample from his band’s song “Love Gonna Pack Up and Walk Out,” on a song called “Redrum.” 50 put “Redrum” on a mixtape called “War Drum” that he posted online for free. Poindexter claims that 50 knew he was sampling the song, but didn’t feel he had to pay for it, because he wasn’t charging for his song. The lawsuit alleges: “Fifty Cents has not denied the infringement, but appears to be basing his defense solely on a frivolous and immaterial claim that the illegal version is not being commercially exploited, but is given away for free.” “Fifty Cents” though? LOL The spelling may not be correct, but the numbers are clear. Poindexter is suing 50 for unspecified statutory damages and an additional $600,000 in punitive damages, plus interest. TMZ said that calls made to 50′s people have not been returned.

George Zimmerman Released On Bail In Trayvon Martin Shooting Case

ANFORD, Fla. -- George Zimmerman was released around midnight Sunday from a county jail on $150,000 bail as he awaits his second-degree murder trial for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin. The neighborhood watch volunteer was wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans and carrying a paper bag. He met a man in a white vehicle and drove away. His ultimate destination is being kept secret for his safety and it could be outside Florida. Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester said at a hearing Friday he cannot have any guns and must observe a 7 p.m.-to-6 a.m. curfew. Zimmerman also surrendered his passport. He had to put up 10 percent, or $15,000, to make bail. His father had indicated he might take out a second mortgage. He left the intake building at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility with an unidentified man, carrying a few bags.

Omarion Signing To Maybach Music Group? Ma$e Next?

According to The Source, it looks like Rick Ross is about to add some new names to the Maybach Music roster. Rick Ross, who usually isn't shy about bringing underutilized talents to his fold, is said to have signed Omarion to the label and is looking to add Mason Betha next. After numerous photos of the two have popped up online of the two together, it is believed that it was Rozay himself that brought them together.

According to a reliable source within the Maybach Music Group camp pieces are falling into place. "Yes, I think its safe to say Omarion is MMG." As the Maybach Music empire continues to evolve it may not end there. Seems as if there is another offer on the table, "I don't want to let no cats out the bag but we'll see what's good with Ma$e."

When pressed about what the roster may look like in the upcoming months, "As far as newest members Omarion and shout out to Ma$e if he wants to get down with this movement then we'll see what happens."

The car company issued an apology after TMZ ran a story revealing the ridiculous race requirements, for their Super Bowl ad which featured Jerry Seinfeld, and Jay Leno.

In statement to the website, Acura explained that their intentions were never meant to insult. "We apologize to anyone offended by the language on the casting sheet used in the selection of actors for one of our commercials. We sought to cast an African-American in a prominent role in the commercial, and we made our selection based on the fact that he was the most talented actor."

They also claim that language used in the casting sheet somehow went over their heads, but stated that they are "taking appropriate measures to ensure that such language is not used again in association with any work performed on behalf of our brand."

With this alleged oversight, the luxury brand has joined the likes of Burger King who caught backlash for hiring Mary J. Blige to sing her love for chicken, and Abercrombie & Fitch who came under fire for using the N-word in the description for a pair of their pants, sold on a fraudulent website
