Clippers Get Chris Paul in Big Trade With Hornets

Chris Paul will supply the Los Angeles Clippers with so much more than alley-oop passes to Blake Griffin when he arrives in Hollywood on Thursday night.

A bold trade for New Orleans' superstar point guard on Wednesday just might alter the entire sports world's perception of the Clippers. Jury Finds Plies Civilly Liable For 2006 Shooting

A jury has found Florida rapper Plies and his brother Ronell Levatte civilly liable for a 2006 shooting inside of a nightclub that left seven people injured.

The rapper has been ordered to pay $200,000 to a group of men who were injured during the shooting, which occurred in July of 2006 in a Gainesville, Florida nightclub.

Plies’ brother, also known as “Big Gates” and members of his entourage open fired during a dispute with the promoter over flies is a lot of time to perform.

His brother served three years in prison for the shooting.

Plies, born Algernod Lanier Washington, was charged with misdemeanor possession of a concealed weapon and received probation for the incident.

The victims accused Plies of using the incident to bolster his credibility, and ultimately his career, which the jury agreed with, after seven days of testimony.

According to Plies’ lawyer, the case was almost settled of court, for four times the $200,000 in damages.

Marriott CEO J.W. Marriott Jr. to step down

J.W. Marriott Jr., who built the company his parents started as a District root beer stand into a global lodging giant, is stepping down as chief executive, ending a storied 39-year run that ushered in a new standard of dependable, middle-class hospitality for travelers around the region, the country and then the world.

The word “Marriott,” in red letters on buildings from Bethesda to China, came to signify home for weary families making their way to Disney World, for traveling salesmen careening around the Midwest and lately for weary road jockeys keeping pace with globalization.
