GQ held their 16th annual Men of the Year party at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles last night (November 17).

Jay-Z "Paranoid" About Becoming A Father, But Says He's Positive He'll Be A Better One Than His Own Dad

Jay-Z's father walked out on his family when Hov was 11-years old. The pain that caused the rapper still bothers him to this day. Now, as he prepares to become a father for the first time himself, he says he's sure he won't make the same mistakes his dad made, although he's still a little paranoid.

"It makes me a little paranoid because no matter what, I don't think any person, or any male, goes into a relationship thinking that they're going to leave or wouldn't be there," he told PEOPLE. "I think the circumstances a lot of times dictates things, right?"

Hov added that his principles are what sets him apart and he believes that ultimately that's what it comes down to.

"I'm just a different kind of guy," he says. "I'm a highly principled person. I come from a real place where you had to be a highly principled person. So, I'm pretty confident that I'll figure it out."

NBA: Shaq Inks His First Endorsement Since Retirement

Shaq was a two-time All-American and two-time SEC Player of the Year, and he received the Adolph Rupp Trophy as the NCAA’s top hoopster in 1991. He left LSU to go pro before his senior year but returned to get a B.A. With those kinds of collegiate credentials, maybe it’s appropriate that he’s one of the new trio of basketballers who will be featured in a “Journey to Comfort” campaign for the Dove Men+Care personal products line that will make its debut in time for March Madness next year.

Shaq will be making what we believe is his first post-retirement endorsement for the Unilever brand by appearing in the 19-month-old “Journey” TV and Web campaign. Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo and Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash also will be new participants in the campaign, though one source told us Nash’s deal is less solid than the other two.

Last year, Unilever complemented its NCAA corporate sponsorship rights with a March Madness “Journey to Comfort” campaign that included Magic Johnson, Georgetown coach John Thompson III and former Duke star Bobby Hurley. Shaq, Izzo and Nash would join a “Journey” athlete roster that also includes ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols, and MLBers Joe Girardi and Andy Pettitte.

Regis Philbin Sticks to No-Tears Pledge on Final Show

Regis Philbin managed to stay in character throughout the festivities surrounding his final appearance on “Live With Regis and Kelly” on Friday. Even as his producer, Michael Gelman, and his co-host, Kelly Ripa, fought back tears, Mr. Philbin looked for laughs.

During each commercial break, he cited someone in the audience; to Robert A. Iger, the chief executive of the Walt Disney Company, he said: “I’m doing everything I can for you! After this you’re on your own!” After a video montage showing moments from his family life he blurted out: “this is torture!” When he thought a musical number went on too long he theatrically gestured to Mr. Gelman off camera, drawing his hand across his own throat. After Mr. Iger announced that ABC was installing a plaque in Mr. Philbin’s honor on the facade of the studio building, Mr. Philbin said with mock complaint: “I got a plaque.” And then: “How about a star in front of the place too.”

While tears flowed in the audience – members of the show’s staff handed out tissues to several women, including Diana Williams of WABC News and the actress Jane Krakowski of “30 Rock,” Mr. Philbin, as he had promised, stayed dry eyed. Later he said “Katie Couric owes me 10 bucks;” Ms. Couric, in a prime-time interview about the end of his run, probably the longest-running act in television, had tried to push Mr. Philbin to admit to her that he would cry. They had made a bet. (“Oh, you’re going to cry,” Mr. Philbin had told her and, turning to a familiar phrase when relating the exchange on Thursday, said: “She was driving me crazy!”)

After he wrapped up his personal goodbye to the television audience, Mr. Philbin also had some words for the studio audience once he was off the air: “I forgot something I wanted to say – I want to stay!”

But the V.I.P.s who were up unusually early Friday morning to walk the red carpet at the crack of dawn in front of the ABC studios on West 66th Street and Columbus Avenue were on hand to say goodbye to Mr. Philbin, at least on TV.

“Friends are being flown in from Hollywood,” Mr. Philbin said, with some degree of amazement, the day before his final day on the job. That group of celebrities – identities were unconfirmed by the show’s staff before the big day – included Ms. Couric; the woman who replaced her on the “The Today Show,” who herself has since left that NBC morning program, Meredith Viera; another “Today” veteran, Bryant Gumbel; Diane Sawyer and Joan Lundon, who were both on ABC’s “Good Morning America” show, were also there; Kathie Lee Gifford, Mr. Philbin’s former on-air partner, and her husband, Frank Gifford, were of course in the audience; the actors Alan Alda and Tony Danza; and friends like Donald Trump rounded out the studio audience. They were among other invited guests in the audience for the last edition of the show and they were to take part in a cake and champagne party for the outgoing host in the studio afterward.

Syracuse Scandal: Bernie Fine, Basketball Assistant Coach, Accused Of Molesting Ball Boy

Syracuse police are in the beginning stages of investigating an allegation that Syracuse assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine molested a team ball boy for more than 12 years beginning in the 1980s, according to an ESPN report.

Nov 17, 2011 - Syracuse police are in the beginning stages of investigating an allegation that Syracuse assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine molested a team ball boy for more than 12 years beginning in the 1980s, according to an ESPN report.

Fine is in his 35th year as Syracuse assistant coach.

The alleged victim, Bobby Davis, told ESPN Outside the Lines that Fine began molesting him in 1983 before Davis started the seventh grade and continued molesting him periodically until Davis was 27 years old. Davis said Fine molested him in Fine's home, at the Syracuse basketball facilities, and on road trips that included the 1987 Final Four.

One of Davis' relatives, another man, told Outside the Lines that Fine also molested him.

Davis said head coach Jim Boeheim was never made aware of the abuse.

Davis said he reported the abuse to Syracuse police in 2003, but a detective told him the statute of limitations had expired. The detective said the police would investigate if Davis knew of anyone Fine was currently molesting, but Davis did not know of any other specific incidents, though he told the detective he suspected he was not Fine's only victim.

At the time, the Syracuse police chief was Dennis Duval, who played under Boeheim at Syracuse. Duval retired in 2004.

ESPN investigated Davis' allegations in 2003, but decided not to run the story because no other victims had come forward, and insufficient evidence supported Davis' claims. In the past week, though, a second man came forward saying he had been molested by Fine. The man said the Jerry Sandusky case encouraged him to come forward.

DEMI DECIDES TO DIVORCE ASHTON

Sheesh. Since Kim Kardashian made a public spectacle of her sham of a marriage, it seems like everyone is drinking the divorce koolaid. Earlier this week, we reported that Ruben Studdard and his wife of four years have decided to split, and, in the train wreck we all saw coming, Demi is giving her boy toy the boot.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton [Kutcher],” Demi says in a statement. “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.

Allegedly, Kutcher knocked million dollar boots with a 22-year-old blonde on the same day as the couple’s 6th anniversary. Cue Usher’s “Papers.”

He tweets, “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail,” he said.

They always give such bland responses to the public. I’m waiting on the day when someone will be truthful and say, “I kind of hate him because not only did he cheat on me, but he also had unprotected sex with the blonde-haired jezebel.” Oh, yeah, that “lack of protection” is also a part of the alleged tale. Apparently, Kutcher believes he’s immune to catching the diseases that MILLIONS of other people catch by accidentally sitting on public toilet seats.
