Jay-Z is more like Warren Buffet than you think. " I Would Pay More Taxes."

Jay-Z has done it again! Last night, GlobalGrind's bossman, Russell Simmons, after an amazing event with Rick Rubin at the New York Public Library celebrating the 25 years of Def Jam Recordings, hit up The Spotted Pig restaurant in New York City to celebrate with the entire Def Jam crew. The "Watch The Throne" superstar joined Russell and company at dinner and during dinner admitted to Russell something that puts him in the ranks of Warren Buffett.

While discussing the current state of America and the economic distress the country is under, Jay said, "I would pay more taxes to help with education and healthcare for the under-served."

With a growing economic justice movement spreading around the world, Jay joins many people of wealth who have agreed to pay more taxes if it would help our country recover from the problems we have endured during these past few years, including Mr. Buffett and the bossman, Russell.

Nelly Says He's Still Hip-Hop, Despite Crossover Success

When Nelly first stepped on the scene in 2000, he was hip-hop to the core. There was no denying the street appeal the multiplatinum hitmaker displayed in his debut "Country Grammar" video wearing an oversize baseball cap, baggy jeans and backward football jersey.

The St. Louis standout has exhibited a ton of growth in his 11-year career, and while his 2010 single "Just a Dream" shot to #1 on Billboard's pop charts, it didn't do much to bolster his hard-core rap cred -- and that's OK. Nelly is still in tune with his rap roots. He even presented LL Cool J with his I Am Hip Hop Icon Award at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards.

"At the end of the day, I am urban, so you can't run from that fact," Nelly told MTV News as he walked the black carpet for the awards show. "At the end of the day, it's another successful brother, stepping and breaking ground for the next brother to come along and do it."

The rhythmic "Just a Dream" was produced by Jim Jonsin and Rico Love, the same team that handled Kelly Rowland's R&B hit "Motivation." Still, it isn't a different formula than the one used on his Patti LaBelle-sampled hit "Dilemma" in 2002. Nelly has always stretched the boundaries of hip-hop, maybe most exemplified on his country duet "Over and Over" with Tim McGraw. The hip-hop star didn't reveal which musical direction he'd be going with his upcoming, yet-untitled seventh album, but it's safe to assume he'll do as he always has. Nelly is willing to let the chips fall where they may.

"You do what works for you," he said. "I think you'd be an idiot to not do what works for you. They don't want me to be smart about it? They wanna see another dumb brother not succeeding because he tried to do something that wasn't smart? That's what they say about us: We don't think first. Well, this brother thinking first. I plan on being here."

Rick Ross Will Not Perform In North Carolina Tonight After Health Scares [Update]

Rick Ross suffered two separate health scares (seizures) yesterday, but the Maybach Music boss is reportedly still scheduled to take the stage in North Carolina tonight (October 15) for a homecoming performance.

According to, a member of Ross’ camp confirmed to the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, the venue Ross is set to perform at, that the rapper will make his scheduled North Carolina AT&T gig. Inquiries made to the venue by were not returned as of press time.

Ross was scheduled to perform in Memphis on Friday (October 14), however, while traveling to the show from Florida he suffered a seizure, first reported by TMZ. The private jet was forced to land in Alabama in order for the rapper to seek medical treatment. Ross later sent a message over Twitter that confirmed he was OK and included a TwitVid announcing that he was back on a plane to Memphis from Alabama and that he was fine.

Word broke late, last night, though, that Ross suffered a second seizure on the way to Memphis. Fellow rappers have sent messages over Twitter in support of Ross, from Drake to Bun B to Diddy, the latter who tweeted from his @iamdiddy account, “Praying for my brother @rickyrozay ! #PrayforRickRoss.”"

Calls for prayers were also expressed by a slew of others including Twista and 2 Chainz. Twista offered, “#Boss, a person who is guided and watched by angels above. Salute @rickyrozay,” while 2 Chainz tweeted, “My luv and prayers go out to my big bruh and real stand up guy @rickyrozay …I kno he gone b str8. He a G!”

Q-Tip gave sound advice to the hard-working star saying: “Prayers up 4 @rickyrozay. Homie rest up.Your health is bigger than bizness.”

Calls to Rick Ross’s management, his label, Def Jam, and his MMG home, Warner Bros., have yet to provide any additional information regarding the cause of the rapper’s condition. —Shaheem Reid and Jayson Rodriguez

[Update: TMZ is reporting that the venue has confirmed that Ross will not be performing at tonight's scheduled show in N.C.]

'X-Men' Writers Land 'Top Gun' Sequel Gig

Just about one year ago, Tony Scott sent his "Top Gun" fans into a frenzy over the news that a sequel is not only planned, but Scott will take the directorial reins on the project. There has been little forward movement since then, but now we have word that "X-Men: First Class" writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been hired to helm the script.

According to Variety, Miller and Stentz are in final negotiations to get to work on the screenplay, with Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison signed on to produce.

The trade publication claimed that there are no plot details to reveal yet, but we're hoping the "First Class" writing duo sticks with the outline Scott shared with us last year.

"It's not even a reinvention, it's not even a sequel. It's a re-thinking," Scott said of his plans for the sequel. "What inspired me is that the world today is great, it's so different from the world we touched originally. It's really run by guys sitting in Nevada on computers playing war games."

Scott teased that the film will focus on the new generation of fighter pilots. "It's a mixture of that, and it's the end of the generation of fighter pilots. Not in a complete end to the generation, because these guys they go up in F-35s and they carry 10 drones with them. [But] it's a very different movie," he said.

But the most pressing question on everyone's minds is: Will Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer reprise their iconic roles

Rick Ross’ Ex Elise Neal Chides Those Around Rapper

Actress, Elise Neal, who dated Rick Ross earlier this year, says she predicted the rapper’s health ailments, which now have Ross hospitalized.

“I hate to say this, but I saw this coming,” she told “I think they’re pushing him too hard.”

While she didn’t specify, the interview alluded to his record label Def Jam and entourage.

”They don’t think about him or his health, pushing him to do all these videos, pushing tours and shows,” Neal continued. “He is not 20 years old anymore — no one seems to care about him really or overall his health.”

On Friday, Ross suffered a pair of seizures that forced him into the emergency room. During the first one, he had to be resuscitated by medics.

She also stated that Ross probably should have stopped traveling after the first seizure, but he continued on with the expectation that he was going to perform in Memphis, Tennessee.

“If you have a medical emergency … if you have the people who are closest around you saying ‘You’re alright’ — you’re going to be more apt to say ‘I’m alright.’”

Rick Ross and Elise Neal went on several highly visible dates earlier this year, including The Soul Train Awards and hot spot Mr. Chows. Their relationship ended quietly after he was seen with other women.
