Rappers To Serve Dinner To Fans To Raise Money For Breast Cancer Awareness

A number of hip-hop legends will gather in Harlem, New York tomorrow (October 12) to raise money to help find a cure for breast cancer.

UTFO’s Kangol Kid is spearheading the “Waiters & Waitresses” event being held at Doug E. Fresh’s Chicken & Waffles tomorrow.

“For over 30 years, Hip-Hop has bred and influenced a league of super heroes and leaders in the entertainment industry,” Kangol Kid told “I for one believe that ‘with great powers come great responsibilities.’ As rappers we’ve always been recognized as the ‘News Anchors’ for the streets. Therefore, it is our responsibility to bring awareness like anchors while saving lives like super heroes.”

The fundraising effort that will legendary artists, executives and others, serving of food to patrons.

Confirmed artists include Kangol Kid, Doug E. Fresh, Roxanne Shante, Nikki D., Dana Dane, Rahiem of the Furious 5, Bowlegged Lou of Full Force, Milk Dee of Audio Two, Freedom Williams of C&C Music Factory, Lady Luck, Mike C. of The Fearless 4, Joe Ski Love and others

The event is part of the “Mama Luke Movement” that aims to raise awareness about breast cancer within the Hip-Hop community.

Kangol formed the organization with film exec Shaunda Lumpkin, after her mother Gay Frances Lucas passed away from breast cancer in May of 2010.

“This male dominated art form has been accused of degrading women for decades through songs and videos,” Kangol Kid told “Those same male pioneers are today’s husbands to wives and fathers to daughters. As us men become better with time, the Mama Luke Movement Breast Cancer Fight becomes an answered invitation for Hip-Hop to show our women…we care.”

Doug E. Fresh’s Chicken & Waffles is located at 2245 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd at 132nd St in Harlem.

Vanilla Ice Teaches Fans How To Invest In Real Estate WIth New Company

Rapper Vanilla Ice hopes to parlay the success of his reality show on the DIY Network into a new company dedicated to turning beginners into seasoned real estate investors.

Vanilla Ice recently launched the “Vanilla Ice Real Estate Rock Star VIP Club,” which aims to turn interested fans into real estate “rock stars.”

Over the past 10 years, Vanilla Ice gained valuable insight into the real estate business, in order to augment his income from the music business.

The rapper, who hit big in the 90s with the single “Ice Ice Baby,” is a seasoned real estate veteran, with his own reality show “The Vanilla Ice Project.”

“You can cross your arms at the end and say ‘Wow. I did that,’ and you can take pride in it,” Vanilla Ice told in a statement. “Real estate kept me out of financial trouble. And it grew my finances when other famous musicians lost everything.”

Hip-Hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is being credited with “saving” The Boys and Girls Club of Harlem New York, with a charitable donation that will help the organization’s operational budget.

The Boys and Girls Club of Harlem announced that Diddy gave a “remarkable” donation to the organization that helps mentor and guide young people in the community, regardless of their circumstances.

The Boys and Girls Club of Harlem, New York, was facing budgetary constraints due to shifts in federal, state and private funding.

According to Willie C. Bentley, Jr., Board Member and Resource Development Chair of The Boys and Girls Club of Harlem, Combs’ donation came at exactly the right time.

“Mr. Combs’ contribution comes at a time when we were faced with the possibility of eliminating existing programs and/or club sites,” Willie C. Bentley Jr. told “One hundred percent of Mr. Combs’ contribution will go directly to the young people, and provide educational, recreational and social enrichment programs allowing us to move forward as a club, uninterrupted.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs grew up in Harlem, and has often credited the local community with influencing his artistic vision.
